比較級と最上級

きほんの英語レッスン6回目がありました。
今日のテーマは 『比較級と最上級』について。
2つのものを比較したり、ものや様子をより具体的に説明したいときに
適した表現です。
Which do you like better, Tokyo or Kyoto？
東京と京都、どちらが好き？
生徒さんからこんな質問をされました。
＜比較級と最上級について＞
比較級の形は2種類あります。
(1）主語・動詞またはbe動詞＋形容詞-er＋than ～
Ken is older than Yuki.
He can run faster than me.
(2) 主語・動詞またはbe動詞＋more＋形容詞＋than～
This rose is more beautiful than that one.
French is more difficult than English.
★他に、比較級を使ったこんな表現もあります。
Angel Fall is three times higher than Tokyo Tower.
エンジェルの滝は東京タワーの3倍も高い。
He can sing better than anyone else.
彼は誰よりもうまく歌える。
★形容詞にer, をつけるか、moreをつけるかは、
母音の数がポイントです。
最上級の形も2種類あります。
(1) 主語・動詞またはbe動詞＋(the)＋形容詞-est
Mt. Fuji is the highest mountain in Japan.
(2) 主語動詞またはbe動詞＋(the)＋most＋形容詞
You’re the most beautiful girl in the class.
ところで、最初の質問の答えですが、みなさんは
どう思われますか？
I think Tokyo is convenient, but Kyoto is worth visiting.
どちらが好きか、答えられないくらい、東京も京都も好きな街ですが、
日本で住むなら静岡しか考えられないMarineです。
